Danone réalise plus de la moitié de ses ventes dans les pays émergents

L’économie européenne et ses industries agro-alimentaires qui ne visent que le marché intérieur ou européen sont à la peine. Danone aborde toutefois 2012 avec sérénité, car le groupe a atteint l’an passé ses objectifs de croissance grâce à de bonnes performances dans les pays émergents, où le groupe réalise plus de la moitié de ses ventes.

Danone est le numéro un mondial des produits laitiers frais et de l’eau en bouteille. Le groupe est également présent dans la nutrition infantile et médicale, grâce à la vente il y a quatre ans de ses activités de biscuits à Kraft Foods pour 5,3 milliards d’euros. Il avait pu ainsi racheter les activités de nutrition médicale et infantile du néerlandais Numico, en lançant une OPA de 12,3 milliards d’euros.

À la question posée lors de la conférence de presse (février 2012), sur le rachat des activités de la nutrition infantile de Wyeth, que Pfizer envisage de céder, Franck Riboud s’est refusé à tout commentaire. Il s’est montré toutefois intéressé par des actifs qui viendraient consolider le portefeuille du groupe, et a ajouté que Danone avait «la capacité à réaliser des acquisitions mais pas aussi structurante que celle de Numico». La division lait infantile de Wyeth, serait valorisée selon certains analystes entre huit et 10 milliards de dollars. Le groupe Nestlé est également régulièrement cité dans la presse comme candidat potentiel à ce rachat.

Danone, dont les marques les plus connues sont les yaourts Activia, les yaourts grecs Oikos* aux États-Unis et les eaux Evian, a enregistré en 2011 un chiffre d’affaires 19.318 millions d’euros, soit une hausse 7,8% en données comparables, dont 15,7% dans les eaux tandis que son bénéfice net courant s’est chiffré à 1.749 millions. Danone reste donc confiant pour 2012 et envisage pour cette année une croissance de son chiffre d’affaires de 5% à 7%, en données comparables même si ses hypothèses pour les tendances de consommation en Europe de l’Ouest restent peu optimistes avec une prévision d’une hausse des matières premières de l’ordre de de 5% .

Aux Etats-Unis, le segment du yaourt grec est le principal moteur de croissance. Avec l’émergence du yaourt grec, la marque Oikos a connu une croissance supérieure à 50 % l’an passé. Elle a pris plus de 30 % de la catégorie en deux ans.
